Almost every enterprise and company claims to be environmentally friendly (green), but the question is: “How can we know is it true, and how to measure this?” There are numerous methods to measure how much green a company is, and there are many standards regarding this. By the way, some publications and websites build an annual list of the green companies all over the world. However, the manner in which companies practice their business generally speaks for itself.
How to make a company to be green?
When we are talking about the green companies, there are a couple of important things to take into consideration. First of all, we need to know are the products manufactured by a certain company really good for our environment? The second question is: “Does the company meet eco-friendly standards in order to decrease the materials they use, to reduce the amount of waste, and to work in an energy efficient way – using less energy to produce the same quantity of goods?”
Also, you can find a lot of companies that make our life easier and more environmentally friendly, of course if you buy their green products. For example, car manufacturers that produce fuel efficient vehicles (hybrid cars), as well as the manufacturers of green cleaners, etc.
How to recognize the green companies?
Unfortunately, the average consumer usually doesn’t know about the elements of eco-friendly companies, and can’t recognize whether a certain company is green or not. The most obvious ways to recognize such companies are:
- Companies that sell a large amounts of eco-friendly goods / products (on a daily basis);
- All recycling companies – regardless of the type of material they recycle;
- Energy efficient businesses – companies that make efforts to reduce the amount of energy during their operation.
There is a noticeable tendency (from many consumers as well as manufacturers), to reduce waste, use less oil (and other non-renewable energy sources), to increase energy efficiency, and to be kinder to our planet. In fact, the majority of companies today are more or less “green”, but there are also those who don’t care about the environment.
