Top Solar Powered Gadgets for Your Home

Solar power is all the rage nowadays, and everyone wants to have at least one solar-powered device in their home. Although launched in the early 1970s, the technology was too expensive to be widely available to the general public during the early decades. Only since the early 2000s the technology became affordable enough to be used on a wide range of products. Now, the market is packed with battery chargers, complex mechanical components, small gadgets, toys and construction elements. Fortunately, there are a lot of gadgets to choose from. Let’s take a look at some of the most exciting ones:

Solar Powered GadgetsMoser lamps are one of the simplest solar powered lamps you can get. They are just plastic bottles filled with bleach and water. When mounted on the roof of your house they emit light with a strength of 40 to 70 watts, depending on the size of the unit. The light refracts from the surface of your roof through a “light cable” and goes directly to the lamps. They are great if you want to light up your attic and create your own, intimate personal room.

Everyone wants to have a solar panel on their roof, but wouldn’t you want to stand out from the crowd and get custom made solar shingles? Companies are now offering solar shingles, according to them, the shingles are a great alternative for common solar panels. In fact, these shingles are miniature solar panels containing photovoltaic cells. They have a similar shape but are much smaller than regular panels. Just like normal shingles, they provide protection against rain and other weather phenomena, but they also generate cheap, green energy. According experts, like Bob Heinmiller, the solar shingles can reduce your electricity bill by almost 70 percent.

The keyboard charges from either sunlight or artificial light and is only 1/3 inch thick, making it a sleek addition to your home office desk.

4. Solar Powered Driveway Lights

Solar power can work in your favor especially on the outside. An American manufacturer recently launched a line of outdoor solar brick lights, perfect for your driveway, patio or back garden.
